Sex Toy Technology Replacing the Real Thing?
In an era of technological advancement and sexual enlightenment, there have been new trends toward sexual capability and comfort that minimize the need for a sexual partner. In other words, people are finding new (and somewhat peculiar) ways to have an intense sexual experience without the need for another person within a thousand miles. There is a book on shelves now called Love and Sex with Robots. This book discusses the potential future of robotics, providing human beings with companionship and sexual gratification. Although an intriguing idea, I’m not sure humankind is completely comfortable with abandoning a sexual partner who knows what they like for one that is programmed the way they like. In fact, its borderline bizarre to think that someday, human beings will be sexually gratified indirectly by a forty-something programmer somewhere overseas. This idea in particular seems far off, but what we are actually close to is equally strange.
